Overview & Problem Space
– FBi community radio station aims to move to an online listening context – but that will make more data available. The question is what to do with that data?
– How can we make use of our resources and the partnerships that we have to develop a membership plan with clear benefits?

Initial Problems
– Community radio stations like FBi currently have limited means of gathering data. They use phone and online surveys conducted on a yearly or monthly basis.
– Commercial stations get day-by-day data because they can pay for it and they also typically have networks rather than just one station.
– Advertising is moving online because of data and immediate metrics.
– FBi needs to develop their online audience, currently only 10% of listeners are online.
– 25% of the audience is engaged with FBi’s social media platforms.
Multiple touch points lead to a messy picture of different listeners.
– How people engage with content is ever-changing.
– What market segmentation typically misses and the importance of fine grained insights about practices in context over time.
– Understanding what  to measure before prototyping

Goals
1. Have a centralised method for data collection.
2. Profile users across different user types (donors, volunteers, musicians, alumni, social media followers, etc.) and discover how people engage with FBi differently across different groups.
3. Decide / evaluate whether developing an app or a social media strategy is more useful.

FBi Radio Website

Outcome
– Develop a platform titled “Embrace Culture”; mainly for those between 14-26 (Sydneysiders, Interested Millenials, Passionate). It allows them to be part of a music & culture community. “Be part of moving culture forward with FBi Radio as your gateway to Sydney’s community music and arts, events and restaurants.” – The platform builds relationships between groups in the community: 1. Promoters: generate more revenue, returning customers 2. Donors: donating for a cause 3. 3500 Supporters: community support & belonging 4. Listeners: in it because of volunteers’ identity/ community socializing 5. Volunteers: community support & belonging/ volunteering for a cause/ learning & training
Also…
Clarity on the different groups of listeners.
– Using data to enhance user experiences and service delivery.
– Showing how different kinds of data can identify different opportunities and are appropriate for different stages of the research process (location-specific, transactional, face-to-face, social media, etc.).

App Key Features:
