Why is pricing challenging for freelancers?

Do you struggle with giving clients a price for your work?

Why is this so difficult for many of us, service-based consultants & designers?

Remember:

Definitely you’re not selling a tangible product like a bag or clothing. So you can’t really quantify the worth of something intangible or abstract…like a strategy or idea.

That’s why you charge based on time vs. value without grasping the impact of your client not having the benefits of your service or skill!

Sometimes, I think about restaurants (prior to Covid) when it comes to pricing. Why is it that some people have to dine at a 5 star high-end resto while others are fine with dinner at a cozy street-style cafe?

Also, why is it OK to try food at a new restaurant then pay for it? And how come we are often asked to deliver something for free as a trial?

Both of them may cook the same menu, deliver and package food in a similar way.

That’s because people aren’t buying only the food – but also the experience, feeling & overall brand which adds power, confidence and status to their image.

SO whether you sell a physical thing or a skill, you are never selling the product. You are selling the VALUE of the product’s outcome on a mental, financial, emotional + spiritual level.

What is it costing your client NOT to work with you?
That’s how you can measure the value!

We all know that business people & clients don’t have time at all.
Complicating your services or offering too many things may not work.

Remember that people aren’t paying for things – they are paying for YOUR expertise to reach results or solutions efficiently. They pay for you being truly reliable.

They also pay for TRANSFORMATION versus lines and lines of info.

Discounting your services attracts  unqualified clients.

If you want to know how to price your services and package them well, I encourage you to get in touch with me over a call.
